Why We Solict Student Ratings
- The CSU Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with faculty and Fresno State's Academic Policy Manual (APM) both require the administration of student ratings of instruction. What we do with the feedback is up to us, but we are required to do this.
- Student Ratings of Instruction are currently one of the only ways that the entirety of the Fresno State student body has a voice on campus. They get this one chance to directly speak to faculty about their experiences in our classes. Listening to their feedback, taking it seriously, is one way that we honor our students and respect their role in their education.
- There is evidence that feedback to instructors is an effective way to improve instruction. For example: https://cetl.uni.edu/sites/default/files/effectiveness_of_student-rating_feedback_for_improving_college_instruction.pdf
